4. Well what can I say?
Bombing in Baghdad, who cares?

IN their defense they may be faced with a news lock out.

5. You know this isn't breaking news
Only Michael Jackson developments are important enough to get them to switch from their pre-scheduled programming any more.

6. CNN had a news blurb "Just In" by Judy Woodruff
...talking about the explosions just before Crossfire. She didn't say much because it just happened.

10. They always seem to go after the Green Zone (weird term)
at the same time of day. It seems to be between one and three (Mountain Standard Time) every time I hear about one of these attacks.

11. I suppose it's the "Green" zone
because it's supposed to be safe, since this administration has a color/safety fetish. I guess, it could also signify green as in money green...

15. It goes back to the colonial times
Green Zone means Western Zone...

You can thank the brits for this

A second term, the Green Line, which usually divides two
groups, aka Jews and Arabs or Arabs and Christians.

17. Or to Barry Switzer
Ex-coach of the Dallas Cowboys, who suggested that the "red zone" near the end zone was actually the "green zone" for the Cowboys, because they were "money" when they got that close. (Really, Switzer was such a dork.)

then it will depend on how long they need to sober W up before they lift the news blackout.

16. Blitzer reporting on CNN
3 or 4 loud explosions, smoke rising from the Green Zone.

Coalition sources reporting that at least one explosion was inside the GZ. Not reporting any structure damage or injuries.

Details still seem sketchy, though Nic Robertson (?) is reporting that they happened 40 minutes ago.

I'm new to the fascist government thing. How long could a blackout potentially last. Should I go eat dinner? Go to sleep? Raise a family? I'm rather on the edge of my seat.

27. It's been ridiculous since the chinook..
I dunno what everyone else thinks.. but personally, after they showed that guy kicking the scalp around when the red cross was bombed and then the chinook went down.. media black out has made it so frustrating that I cant even watch the news anymore.

against US interests in one week, than Clinton had the whole time he was in office. W is doing such a good job protecting the world against terrorism. Maybe next week he'll bat a 1000.

40. Reuters says no casualties; "two projectiles"
The main U.S. headquarters in central Baghdad also come under attack with several blasts rocking the compound around midnight (4 p.m. EST). A U.S. military spokesman said there were no casualties and only minor damage.

"Two projectiles impacted in the vicinity of the 'green zone'," the spokesman said, referring to the sprawling complex of palaces and parkland that has been turned into a fortress. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=3980538
