2 teens charged with setting off homemade (acid) bombs in Wal-Mart (Maine)

November 26, 2006

SKOWHEGAN, Maine --Two teenage boys were arrested late Saturday night and charged with setting off two homemade bombs inside a Wal-Mart that was filled with holiday shoppers.

Hundreds of customers were evacuated from the store when the bombs detonated Saturday afternoon, one in the toy section and the other in the pet food area.

At least eight people were treated by emergency medical technicians or at a nearby hospital for irritation to their eyes and throat or ringing in their ears, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.

The 15-year-old juveniles, whose names were not released because of their age, were taken into custody after photos from the store's security cameras were shown on late night television newscasts.

'nuff said.

Customers may be animals enough thanks to what's shown on the news (beating each other up for that precious Elmo doll :eyes: ), but NOTHING justifies what those degenerate punks did.

2. The kids are out on bail. They must be well-connected Republicans
Just like Charles Alfred Dreyling, Junior.

Apparently, they had other targets:

Authorities said the teens had made three other explosive devices and placed one on the roof of a downtown business and two on the lawn of a residence. Those three bombs, none of which had detonated, were being retrieved by investigators, McCausland said.

5. Wow, that's right up the road from me....
first I've heard of it, I'm sure it made the TV news, but I gave up on that fluff many years ago.

Pretty stupid....that's going to waste their lives.

9. Bleach and ammonia
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 12:16 AM by TexasLawyer
The "household chemicals" were probably bleach mixed with ammonia. This can be a VERY deadly combination.

The Dangers of Mixing Bleach and Ammonia

Often, one looks at a bottle of bleach and wonders, 'Why shouldn't this be mixed with ammonia?' If you know how dangerous chlorine gas is to humans (it was used as a chemical weapon during World War I and later by Nazi Germany in World War II), this will be very apparent.

This entry will tell of a few reactions that can occur when bleach and ammonia are mixed in various proportions - the release of chlorine gas is just one of these. In the following sections, the header will be the name of the most dangerous compound produced in the reaction shown. Please, do not try any of this at home.

12. Ha ha.
No, you'll just get light headed and maybe cough a little bit, depending on the concentration of both reactants.

I speak from experience.
