U.S. Marine and Soldier Killed in Iraq

October 22,2006 | BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Two U.S. troops were killed in fighting in Iraq, the military said Sunday, raising the death toll in October to 80, the highest of any month this year.

A Marine assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5 died during combat in Anbar province west of Baghdad on Saturday, the military said.

A U.S. soldier assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division's 3rd Brigade Combat Team under Task Force Lightning was killed and three also were wounded Saturday in combat in the northern Salahuddin province, according to a separate statement.
