Israeli claims on Iraqi weapons false: report
A new report has found Israeli intelligence greatly exaggerated the risk of an attack by Iraq during the recent Gulf War, exposing inherent flaws and weaknesses in Israel's security services.

Reserve General Shlomo Brom says the risk of a non-conventional attack was actually found to be non-existent or highly unlikely in his study for the prestigious Jaffee Centre for Strategic Studies.

He says while Israel has every reason to be grateful for the outcome of the conflict, its intelligence services have lost credibility with their overseas counterparts and the public.

General Brom also says Israeli intelligence should have been far more sceptical about the existence of surface-to-surface missiles and weapons of mass destruction.

6. I said that Israel was the source of Niger reports months ago and was
roundly criticized as anti-semitic. I am sure they are trying to distance this news from the Niger report but my money is still on the theory that they were the source for the Niger fiasco. That's why the administration staked so much on the info without verification.

As a backdrop to this news, the AEI has been spending a lot of time this week blaming all our ME and Iraq ills on Clinton administration. I knew something was up when I heard their rants.

9. I sincerely doubt it...
the GOI most likely exxagerated this evidence to help the US in this case. It benefitted them because it ensured their aid and it helped the PNAC plan for the Middle East (which would benefit a Likud-controlled Israel), and it benefitted the US because they had some more evidence to support the existence of non-existant weapons of mass destruction.

Israel is not to blame for all the overplayed intelligence; they are simply a part.

11. I am shocked! Shocked!
What is the Israel Lobby going to do now? Taking a cue from their rightwing friends in the Likud, they were among the biggest advocates of war against Iraq.

12. Well, the GOP hasn't done much, have they?
Why should the US Likud Lobby (please call it what it is; it is not pro-Israel) do anything different?

8. Just think if this had been France!
I don't see how the parents of our dead soldiers can just let this administration continiue to be jerked around by Israeli policies that have resulted in so much harm to this nation and the world without shouting from the roof tops.

10. What does the Iraq war have to do with Israel's policies?
This evidence only shows that Israel aided the US fraud, not that isarel was responsible for it. Am I reading too much in your post?
