IMPEACHMENT SET FOR SF VOTE; REFERENDUM ON OLYMPIC BID NEXT

Voters in San Francisco may get the opportunity to call for the impeachment of George W. Bush on the same ballot they can register their opinion on the city's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The advocacy group Constitution Summer announced today that the San Francisco Impeachment Ballot Initiative had the support of four members of the Board of Supervisors -- the minimum necessary to force an appearance on the ballot.

What a joy it will be after the last 5+ years to tell the fucker off with my vote. I want to throw a rocking Impeachment Party the night of the voting! I know my town will hand Bush his ass. One more city down, hundreds to go.

2. I tried to find something the Chronicle and the passage in the OP
turns up.

The Chronicle has in the past derided our Board of Supervisors for these measures -- actively discouraging San Francisco citizens from participating in the national debate.

7. I hope so...who wants your city torn up
with no lasting benefit for the citizens? Horrible traffic, ugh. Olympic goers don't have a lot of money to spend because the events are so costly.

8. we can handle it.
ritchie is a smart guy. he will make sure that anything that is built is of lasting use. between the many sports teams here, and the many universities, we actually have a great deal of infrastucture already in place.
bring it on.

10. and SF has a finite amount of space and
no matter what you do,you can't get around the fact. I agree, Chicago is the town and is very very sports minded.

12. How pointless.
Only the House of Representatives can start impeachment.

If Congress hasn't flipped next January, Bush will never be impeached.

13. Any effort such as this is valuable because it expresses the will of the
people. Also, an individual state CAN start an impeachment.

14. And a Republican Congress will wave them off.
And on the very remote chance that a state actually tried something like that, California is the last state I'd like to see get involved.
