The US military said two soldiers died when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb at around 9:00 am (0500 GMT), while another soldier was killed in a similar bombing at 6:30 am (0230 GMT) in a separate attack.

Both the attacks occurred southwest of Baghdad, the military said, but did not provide the exact locations.

RIP.

The story of the 06:30 is slightly different according to a Kuwaiti newspaper. He did from an explosion near his car when he was trying to board his vehicle.

MIL-LD IRAQ-UNREST
Bomb blast kills Multi-National soldier

BAGHDAD, May 11 (KUNA) -- A roadside bomb blast killed a member of
the Multi-National Force southeast of the Iraqi capital on Thursday, the force said in a statement.

The soldier died in the blast that occurred close to a vehicle he was boarding, it said, without elaboration.

The force has been repeatedly targeted with hit-and-run and bombing attacks since its deployment in 2003, when the former regime of Saddam Hussein was ousted. (pickup previous)

10. If it was up to right-wingers, we would forget all about it.
They got so pissed off when Ted Koppell read the names of the dead.

Don't forget the tens of thousands maimed for life, either.

Who knows how many innocent Iraqis have been killed and maimed?

All this death and destruction FOR NOTHING but corporate profits.

But idiotic republican voters slap a magnet on their car and wave the flag and cry "support the troops!"

How strange that they are not flocking to the recruiter's.

11. Pile 'em higher!

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

Edit: incorrect wording

Yesterday I said that the good news was no soldiers were killed today. Somehow I shouldn't have said it, because it turns out that the news was delayed.

Sergeant Alessandro Carbonaro died 10-May-2006 from wounds received in the Al Anbar Province (probably Fallujah) on May 1.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Alessandro Carbonaro, 28, of Bethesda, Md., died May 10, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, from wounds received while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq, on May 1. He was assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Media with questions about this Marine can call the 2nd Marine Division Public Affairs Office at (910)- 451-9033.

19. War is madness. Sadly you have look at it to realize it
That's why the people are silent. They do not want to know. They do not want to cry, because they think it makes them weak, but the real weakness is not allowing yourself to feel the emotions connected to the death and disgust of war.

There is no glory in war; There is no greatness in war; There is only destruction. Destruction of buildings; Destruction of happiness; Destruction of life.

CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq – Four Marines assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5 died as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province today.

24. 3 U.S. Soldiers Killed In Iraq
Edited on Fri May-12-06 10:54 AM by leftchick
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/12/iraq/main1613916.shtml

(CBS/AP) Gunmen kidnapped 10 young men from mostly Sunni Arab villages in northern Iraq on Thursday, but U.S. and Iraqi forces saved seven of them, police said. Three American soldiers were killed in separate attacks south of the capital.

The kidnapping drama occurred in two villages near Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad.

The attackers arrived in several cars and pickup trucks at about 6:30 a.m. and seized the 10 young men from their homes, but they were confronted by local sheiks and citizens, police said.

<snip>

The three U.S. soldiers died when roadside bombs hit two separate Army convoys southwest of Baghdad, the military said. The U.S. command also announced that another U.S. soldier died two days ago from non-combat related wounds near the northern city of Mosul.

27. My semi-adopted son is headed over there in June
He should be coming from Ft. Lewis through Sacramento on June 8th. It hurts to think that this might be the last time we see him. My wife and 14 y.o. daughter would be especially devastated if anything happened to him. As for me, I'll probably get thrown in jail for fucking up those idiots with the Bush 04 stickers.

I guess the only consolation is that he'll be in a tank. That way he won't get blown up, he'll just get his brain scrambled from the concussion. Or drown when it goes off a bridge. God, I hate this war and the bastards that started it.

So it is still at 12, however May already passed March and if this month continues at this rate, it'll be on the level of Oct 2005 or maybe even Jan 2005.
