Oil hits new high over $73 on Iran, US stocks
Oil hit an all-time high above $73 a barrel Wednesday on fears Iran's intensifying dispute with the West may hit oil supplies.

"It's like the Cuban Missile Crisis, we are just waiting for someone to blink," said Michael Coleman, managing director of Singapore-based hedge fund Aisling Analytics.

London's Brent crude was up 95 cents at $73.46 a barrel at 1880 GMT after peaking at a fresh record of $73.76.

3. Thank goodness I have a scooter
that gets like around 70 to 80 miles per gallon. I use it all the time now. I feel bad though for the people whoose lives depend on cheap gas such as truck drivers. I went to gasbuddy.com and saw a diesel price listed in the Chicago area of 3.75. Simply amazing.

4. Unbelievable.
Here in Portland, I'm still seeing prices of around $2.60/gallon.

Don't worry though, it will hit any moment.

7. I have an electric moped
which is great here in the inner city, averages about half a cent a mile in electricity, draws 24 watts at full charge. Check it out at http://www.egovehicles.com It's a neat little toy and I do most of my errands on it. Everythig I need to get to is well within its range.

9. I'd love to see a truckers strike ala the 70s - just without the violence
Or a million+ march by the working class.

8. Hopefully this will get people to start conserving
Hopefully this will get people to start conserving and demanding more efficient vehicles from Detroit!

I can't believe that conservatives don't understand that Bush and company are in favor of higher oil prices. The Bush administration has done as close to nothing as is possible to promote alternative fuels. Especially things like wind power that could produce a lot of electricity.

High Oil Prices Help Boost Exxon Profits, 30 Jan 06

Exxon Mobil Corp. posted record profits for any U.S. company on Monday -- $10.71 billion for the fourth quarter and $36.13 billion for the year -- as the world's biggest publicly traded oil company benefited from high oil and natural-gas prices and solid demand for refined products."
