Bush urges Congress to make tax cuts permanent
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As Americans face a deadline for filing taxes, President George W. Bush on Saturday pressed Congress to extend tax cuts, saying they create jobs and economic growth.
....
"Tax relief has done exactly what it was designed to do: It has created jobs and growth for the American people," Bush said in his weekly radio address.

"Yet some here in Washington are now proposing that we raise taxes, either by repealing the tax cuts or letting them expire," he said. "To keep our economy creating jobs and opportunity, Congress needs to make the tax relief permanent."

Democrats have criticized the Republican tax proposals as mainly benefiting the wealthy.

How can these people sleep at night, and how do they convince millions of taxpayers that it is a good thing to give wealthy people more money? When I ponder this problem I sometimes think my head will explode.

8. Republicans:Welfare works when it benefits millionaires and corporations
welfare doesn't work when it benefits poor people.

Hard work by CEOs should be rewarded but the hard work of middle-income families should not.

Equal opportunity for all rich white sons of privilege, a real minority, works just fine but affirmative action for brown-skinned folks distorts the labour market.

Don't you get it?

Haven't you bankrupted this nation enough already? Haven't your have-mores base profited enough at the expense of the middle class & poor already?

MFer.

12. No such thing as "permanent"
The tax code is constantly being adjusted, revised, tweaked and massaged. Asking to make tax cuts "permanent" is like asking your garden to quit growing because everything's "perfect" right this second. Bush is either a fool or he thinks we're fools for prattling on like this. Neither alternative exactly inspires me with hope for our country.
