Police say (Richard Mellon Scaife) publisher's wife assaulted three
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06098/680567-53.stm

The estranged wife of the publisher of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review attacked three of his employees yesterday afternoon in an attempt to take his dog by force, police said.

Police said Ritchie Scaife, 58, assaulted a maid, a secretary and security guard outside of the home of Richard Mellon Scaife on Westminster Place, Shadyside, at about 1:20 p.m. yesterday. Mr. Scaife was not at home at the time of the incident.

<snip>

According to police and witness reports, Mrs. Scaife pulled Mrs. Patterson's hair and punched her in the head. Mrs. Patterson called out for help and Dennis Bradshaw, the security guard, went to go pull Mrs. Scaife off of Mrs. Patterson. Police said Mrs. Scaife slapped Mr. Bradshaw's glasses off of his face and broke them.

<snip>

Police said that Mrs. Scaife pushed Mrs. Still to the ground and then kicked her in the hip. Witnesses to the fracas interceded by trying to calm Mrs. Scaife. All of the victims suffered minor injuries and did not immediately seek medical treatment, police said. After police left, all of the victims went to nearby Shadyside Hospital.

Looks like Scaife definitely found the perfect mate.

:rofl:

This is the guy that financed the witchhunt of Bill Clinton.

Scaife: Funding Father of the Right

One August day in 1994, while gossiping about politics over lunch on Nantucket, Richard Mellon Scaife, the Pittsburgh billionaire and patron of conservative causes, made a prediction. "We're going to get Clinton," Joan Bingham, a New York publisher present at the lunch, remembers him saying. "And you'll be much happier," he said to Bingham and another Democrat at the table, "because Al Gore will be president."

Bingham was startled at the time, but in the years since – as Clinton has struggled with an onslaught from political enemies – Scaife's assertion came to seem less and less far-fetched.

Scaife did get involved in numerous anti-Clinton activities. He gave $2.3 million to the American Spectator magazine to dig up dirt on Clinton and supported other conservative groups that harassed the president and his administration. The White House and its allies responded by fingering Scaife as the central figure in "a vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president," as Hillary Rodham Clinton described it. James Carville, Clinton's former campaign aide and rabid defender, called Scaife "the archconservative godfather in heavily funded war against the president."

<snip>

By compiling a computerized record of nearly all his contributions over the last four decades, The Washington Post found that Scaife and his family's charitable entities have given at least $340 million to conservative causes and institutions – about $620 million in current dollars, adjusted for inflation. The total of Scaife's giving – to conservatives as well as many other beneficiaries – exceeds $600 million, or $1.4 billion in current dollars, much more than any previous estimate.

5. We need an investigation to get to the bottom of this
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 05:45 PM by bluestateguy
A special prosecutor MUST be appointed. The prosecutor shoulod have unlimited powers, he/she should have close ties to groups like the ACLU, AFL-CIO and Moveon.org, etc.

15. My bastard ex wouldn't let me have my dogs either!
So.. I'm wondering if she was pushed into last resort to get her dog. My ex threatened me if I tried to take the dogs.. (one was my dog of 10 years before I met him!). I'd like to know the entire story..

16. She probably loved the dog ~ how petty of him not to let her have it. Did
you get your dog? I hope so. I love my animals too and can understand how she felt. Richard Melon Scaiffe should have been charged with treason for trying to bring down a US president. He always managed to stay in the background while funding the scum of the earth, like Ann Coulter ~ I''m so glad to see him get this kind of publicity. He's a coward, paying others to do his dirty work for him.

22. 1972....Scaife gave $990,000 to the Nixon presidential campaign...
...in the form of 330 $3,000.00 checks. This was reported by the Washington Post. Scaife's response was that he was trying to avoid the government gift tax on amounts of $10,000 or greater. After Nixon's disgrace and subsequent resignation because of the Watergate scandal, Scaife decided to fund rightwing foundations instead of individual politicians.

We all know about the Arkansas Project, and I bet he's currently funding activities in support of the NeoCons, too.

24. The Scaifes And Mellons
Are very powerful Pittsburgh old-money families, like the Heinzes. Andrew W. Mellon was Secretary of the Treasury under Warren Harding (and up to his a** in Teapot Dome, no doubt). I went to college in that area (Chatham College, in Shadyside), and it's mansion row. Scaife is just plain evil. It makes me puke that my college receives endowment from him.

Here's what another scion of the Mellon empire has been up to lately:

Mellon on Hacking Charge
by Simon Moores
January 29th, 2006
http://netcrime.itproportal.com/?p=378

The Sunday Times reports that Matthew Mellon, heir to a £6.6 billion banking and oil fortune, will appear in court next month in connection with an investigation into an alleged phone-tapping and computer hacking gang.

The former husband of Tamara Mellon, who runs the Jimmy Choo shoe empire, will appear alongside 17 other defendants accused of involvement in the operation, which allegedly provided clients with confidential information about wealthy people and businesses.
