Blackwell mailing is political front, attorney says
Columbus -- In January, Massillon attorney Perry Stergios registered a new business with Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, whose office then mailed him a receipt and certificate.

A week later, Blackwell's office sent Stergios a second 30-cent mailing -- one that raised his hackles.

It contained another copy of the certificate and a document that promoted the Republican gubernatorial candidate's Ohio Center for Civic Character.

Blackwell's spokesman, Carlo LoParo, said the second mailing was a one-time mistake, that Blackwell's office typically mails the civic character document with the receipt, costing taxpayers no extra postage.

1. I see... so Blackwell thinks...
it's okay to use the government's dime to send out his own political and campaign mailings so long as they aren't double-sent? This is what campaign funds are supposed to be used for, and this sort of crapola should not be allowed into PUBLIC mailings. I agree with Stergios. This appears to be an abuse of office and an abuse of government funds.

2. The Emporer of Ohio
Hey, this is Ohio. Blackwell seems to be able to do as he darn well pleases, the law be damned.

3. What does this have to do with registering a business?
What makes the Ohio Center for Civic Character so special that it gets to send out mailings within business registration documents?

4. I hope they prosecute
there is a statement somewhere on official mail that says it is a crime to use it for personal purposes. Or did they erase that statement? :eyes:
