Poll: Bush's popularity sagging in five Southeastern states

(Charlotte, NC-AP) March 3, 2006 - The latest Elon University poll shows that a majority of adults in five key Southern states disapprove of President Bush's job performance, and they say the war in Iraq was not worth fighting.

The telephone poll of more than 1,200 adults in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida was conducted over the last two weeks. It's the first regional poll conducted by the school, which has been doing state polls since 2000.

In the telephone poll, 43 percent of respondents said they approve or strongly approve of Bush's job performance, compared to 52 percent who said they disapproved or strongly disapproved.

Asked whether the war with Iraq was worth fighting or not, 51 percent said no, while just 44 percent said yes. Five percent said they did not know.

2. Oh yeah and W won Va. by 8 points in 2004
uh-huh

This is good news. I don't know if that means that they would vote for a Dem but this is good news.

The thing we really have going for us is that W&Co. are so far outside the norm that only the diehard fans (and I do mean fans) are staying with him...that and people who refuse to admit that they were duped/wrong.

4. The good news just keeps coming
Man, it's really starting to feel like the people are coming around. Even if many of these people won't vote for a Dem, they could very well just stay home or vote for a third party.

5. I am not sure it will be that hard to sway many of them to the Dems
because many of them used to be dems. We just need a clear message that they like. We need to publicize the knee-jerk wedge issue strategy of the Pugs, remind the voters that some things in their lives should count more than these grossly un-Christian wedgies.

7. Moran's are a hard bunch to figure . . .
. . . seems they can be swayed very easily, when the Repuke machine turns up the spin cycle. Sigh.

But, still, it seems a good sign.

15. So are the people who believe the 2000 and 2004 elections.....
...were fair and free of election fraud.

I guess it's just easier for some folks to believe that folks in the South are all rightwing hicks.

fast as possible probably in fear that they will soon be swept out of office. They've passed the no GBLT clubs in schools bill, the Defense of Christmas Bill, and a bill to split up my blue county and liberal oasis into two Repuke state senate disticts (Gov. Sonny sogned that one).
They want to further de-regulate natural gas companies so that the companies can charge the homeowner consumers only (not the corporate consumers) so that the companies can build new gas lines. :grr:

edit: About 6 months ago, the majority of Bush-Cheney, W'04 and W the president stickers suddenly disappeared from the cars in the RW suburbs around my city.
