ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Great Britain have started initial contacts to look into allegations of an MI5 bugging operation in the Pakistan High Commission in London.
"Yes, Mr Mark Lyall Grant, the British high commissioner, was in the Foreign Office on Wednesday. We are at this point conducting an internal evaluation and pondering upon the next steps to take," Masood Khan, spokesman of the Foreign Office, told The News.
Grant, who has recently taken over the mission, faces his first major challenge in Islamabad.
Khan said they have yet to determine whether it was in fact the Pakistan High Commission the media report hinted at and secondly Islamabad is also looking into charges that bugging actually took place.
