A Kinky Friedman talking action figure stars in the gubernatorial hopeful's first round of campaign TV ads, which began airing across Texas on Monday.

"Can you get the Republicans and Democrats to work together?" one reporter asks.

"I'm running for governor, not God," the doll responds.

To get on the ballot, Friedman will have to gather 45,540 signatures after the March primary from people who did not cast a vote in that election.

As a side note, for the longest time I thought Kinky Friedman was a made-up name -- something you'd call a preverted soul. LOL!

If Friedman gets the signatures, he will face Gov. Rick Perry (rep),Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn (rep), former US Rep. Chris Bell (dem), Fort Worth middle school administrator Felix Alvarado (dem) and possibly former Texas Supreme Court Justice BOb Gammage (dem).
