Democrats Say Nation's Security At Risk

CAPITOL HILL (AP) - Congressional Democrats says the Nine-Eleven commission's report is proof the administration has dropped the ball on homeland security.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi calls it "an indictment of the continued failure" to meet the nation's security needs.

Congressman Bart Stupak says the administration spends more money in Iraq in two days than it has since Nine-Eleven on making sure first responders can talk to each other. He warns that means "chaos will reign" after any future attack.

Democrats charge the Republican-controlled Congress has short-changed homeland security while at the same time giving tax breaks to the wealthy.

2. All they have to do is point to NOLA ...
... it wasn't even a terrorist attack and chaos reigned.

Bushco has so heavily mis-focused every asset this country has on Iraq that we are woefully underequipped to even handle a strep throat epidemic in most local dog catcher's offices.

10. You're right
His obsession with Iraq came before anything else. The other thing that keeps the administration from being effective, is that before any policy is enacted, Bush has to figure out how to use it to funnel money to his cronies. Halliburton and the no-bid contracts are a perfect example.

We citizens are not a priority for him, so protecting us is not a priority. Otherwise, New Orleans wouldn't have been abandoned to die on national t.v. while the idiot vacationed.

3. The Democrats need to repeat
this message again and again. It should be said during every interview and television appearance. Drive this message home.

5. Rightwingers will call it fearmongering.
For some reason WE'RE always the ones doing the fearmongering, even though THEY say shit like "if you don't vote for us, we'll get attacked again."

WTF?

8. Think we could get CNN/FAUX to post those color charts again
I mean, they so obviously weren't fear mongering, they were only there to prop up the misadministration until election time.

9. handing control of foreign policy over to PNAC didn't improve matters
Slugs at home, blowhards abroad, double your fun. I think since the administration feels free to establish shadow governments, we should too. Then when FEMA arrives to "take charge" of the next disaster, we can reply "hey guys, it's OK, we've got it under control. You can go home. Now."
