Reuters (Yahoo): New York Subway Attack Warning For Sunday
"NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. authorities warned New York officials that a team of "terrorist operatives" planned to attack the subway on Sunday with remote controlled bombs hidden in briefcases or baby strollers, a newspaper said on Saturday.

snip

The memo said bombers planned to hide explosives in briefcases, suitcases or baby strollers -- the same items Bloomberg warned New Yorkers not to take on the subway or risk being searched by police."

1. Is this the same warning as Friday, or a different one?
This sounds awfully familiar, and why was the earlier one deemed to be less than credible, but this one is?

Does DHS have its threat warnings on a very short tape loop?

That does stand out as a red flag to indicate that this is something less than an elite team of commandos.:eyes:

I didn't watch an television or check into LBN till late Sunday.
(and I couldn't be found in a church)

I see there's a thread in LBN titled something like "Subway Terror Threats Unsubstantiated/Not corroborated", but did the warning occupy the early news?

edit: added link to LBN thread

18. You know that disco song, THANK GOD IT's FRIDAY?
We used to sing THANK GOD IT's WEDNESDAY, because we worked SAT and SUN and got THU-FRI off.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is the time zones, when the sun rises and sets...OVER THERE. All roads don't lead to Rome in that part of the world, they lead to Mekkah.

They are seven hours AHEAD of us...so something that happens in NYC late Saturday night is actually happening early Sunday morning, by their time.

This whole thing is so transparent I don't think anybody is buying. Least of all New Yorkers.

I can't believe how bad they're getting at the politics of distraction.

15. Bush's low poll numbers cause a lot of trouble and money.
If such an event doesn't happen, few will believe that the US prevented anything.

If it does happen, most will think we are incapable of protecting ourselves and that the invasion of Iraq stopped nothing.

That's why all the hype over the week-end was ridiculous.

20. I'm sure the ANTHRAX killer, after sending anthrax letters
to Democratic senators might think it's tempting to plant a bomb or two in a heavily populated BLUE STATE city, but it would be so much riskier than sending little letters through the mail.

21. this is a spectacularly transparent ruse. first of all, a Sunday attack
would disrupt business activity minimally. no real terra-ist would chose a Sunday to attack NYC. they'd do the same thing that was done in London, attack during rush hour for maximum effect and fear. second, the advance warning citing one specific day and no others? come on, what do they think we are... children? the powers behind this charade are working toward the objective of public fear and coersion, but they're not terra-ists. they're something far more sinister than terra-ists.

22. Exactly
Sunday? The London bombings were during the weekday rush hours. Even 9/11 was on a weekday, although slightly earlier before the majority of workers were able to make it in.

Monday is also a Holiday (Columbus Day) for many people. The Jewish Holiday of Yom Kippur is during the week too. It makes no sense whatsoever.

23. Any "attack" on Sunday could also ramp up a "Fightin' Fer Jesus" meme.
"They attacked on our holy day!" (Never mind the fact that the United States is not a Christian nation.)

27.  NYC 'bomb threat' details leaked
A team of "terrorist operatives" planned to attack the New York City subway on Sunday with remote-controlled bombs, a leaked FBI document warned.

The attackers may have planned to hide explosives in briefcases or pushchairs, a copy of the warning obtained by the Reuters news agency revealed.

But the bulletin said officials had doubts about the threat's credibility.

'Abundance of caution'

The mayor received the memo from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday, the same day he announced the existence of the threat in a press conference.

31. Another way the Bush administration has made us vulnerable...
they have cried wolf so many times that many people now will question any terror alert, even if it is justified. In turn, local officials may get gunshy about notifying the public when they believe there is a true threat. And the hardworking folks who use public transportation are caught in between...
