Harassment class for new governor?
Most state workers take sex bias course -- aides say he's too busy to think about it
Sacramento -- Aides say Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger has been too busy setting up his administration to consider whether to take the same sexual harassment prevention training that thousands of state workers and the 120 members of the Legislature are required to take.
The training, which has become commonplace in many companies and public agencies, has been in place for state employees since the early 1990s.
Unlike lawmakers and most state employees, statewide elected officials such as the governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state are not required to take the training. But both Attorney General Bill Lockyer and Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi have volunteered for a course.
Now, as Schwarzenegger enters the scene at the state Capitol, denounced a decade ago as an "Animal House'' of sexism and harassment, some women's groups say he should educate himself on workplace harassment.
