51. Blame Game or accountability?
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 04:58 AM by Born Free
If this happened in any other country the White House would be at the UN calling for action against the leaders of that country, but in good old bush country all they can say is stop playing the blame game. This may not be as bad as the genocide of some people in other countries , but almost the same - what's the difference if you gas them or let them rot? At least with the gas they may not have suffered so long. For the sake of humanity the people at the white house need to be held accountable for this atrocity to the American people. This should be consider a criminal offense, not an accident, it was no accident! They KNEW what they were doing , they KNEW what was going on and they ALLOWED it to happen. Americans sat back when they allowed 9/11 and Americans ignored the massacre of the innocent in Iraq and now some want to ignore this - how long before people of America stand up? Will they wait until it hits there own neighborhood? It's not a question of partisan it's a question of moral value, true moral value, not the kind they peddle for elections.

31. Ebenezer Scrooge was the first neocon
``If they would rather die,'' said Scrooge, ``they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population. Besides -- excuse me -- I don't know that.''

``It's not my business,'' Scrooge returned. ``It's enough for a man to understand his own business, and not to interfere with other people's. Mine occupies me constantly. Good afternoon, gentlemen!''

That is awful. :( :grr:

"The guy who runs this building I'm in, emergency management, he's responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St Bernard nursing home, and every day she called him and said, 'Are you coming, son? Is somebody coming?'," Broussard said on NBC's Meet the Press.
"And he said, 'Yeah, Momma, somebody's coming to get you. Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody's coming to get you Thursday. Somebody's coming to get you on Friday' and she drowned Friday night."

If these are the same nursing home patients as the ones described by Aaron Broussard, they died on FRIDAY! There is NO excuse whatsoever why these people weren't evacuated. They weren't looting, they CERTAINLY didn't have firearms!

12. Radio Station KDKA 1020 Pittsburgh was reporting at 3:00
on that story and that 100 bodies had been found in a warehouse where they were waiting for rescue when they died. I hope the latter was a false report though KDKA news is usually fairly careful IMHO.

But their asshole RWingnut Fred Honzberger made me crazy today (I was in car so that's why I listened). God was he and his callers ugly. They were so damn jealous of the $2,000 the victims were getting. And Fred said station management sent a memo not to call them refugees, so of course that is what Fred kept calling them refugees. One asshole caller was actually mad plumbing apprentice jobs were being offered locally to any victims that settled in Pittsburgh by a company. He was whining he heard someone said they didn't want to fix a toilet, and why wasn't these jobs being offered to white middle class guys. You could just hear the sarcasm dripping that all these victims were nothing but welfare mooches.

After listening to this I felt like I just got dunked in the stinking, filthy waters of NO.

Times like this, I really do hope there is a God and I hope I'm there at the end times to see these jerks tossed in to the foul bowels of hell.

57. No it doesn't ... no disrespect to you but some people were born "nasty"
and "selfish." I've known some really sweet and kind hearted people who have one child that just "turns ugly".

It's a mixture of temperament and greed. Many of us learn young what it feels like to help someone without asking. It's one of the most beautiful feelings in the world - to give of oneself.

Unfortunately, Right Wing Republicans think the above sentiments are "weak" and "worthless." They swagger and seemingly destroy everything around them through their insatiable greed and sense of entitlement.

I have to work really hard not to HATE Right Wing Republicans.

But Bush says, "What problem?" I only wish that I could spend some time with him.

47. Chalmette
Chalmette is one of the lowest parts of the New Orleans metropolitan area. I believe it was disastrously flooded by Hurricane Betsy in 1965. I wonder if those folks in the nursing home were caught unaware by a wall of water? The water must have risen very, very quickly down there, or the staff would have done something to get them out.

52. This is especially upsetting. My Mom was in a nursing home
for the last 3 months of her life and my Dad and I spent everyday in that nursing home with her (she passed away 2 months ago). The vulnerability of these elderly patients is so profound. They are completely dependent on others for the most basic of care. There are so many who are unable to feed themselves or get up from a chair without help. To imagine what these poor people went through after the storm is just absolutely heartbreaking.
