Limbaugh on Broadway for Katrina victims
NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Tickets went on sale Tuesday for conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh's one-man Broadway benefit show for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"Rush on Broadway" will consist of a single Oct. 18 performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre, home of Disney's "Lion King," which will take the night off, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

The event is being sponsored by New York's WABC-AM, which is also owned by Disney.

Tickets are $77 apiece, the Post said.

perfect role for a rat like him.

" Here's a hint of gold
Stuck into a tooth
Pardon me M'sieur
You won't be needing this no more.
Shouldn't be too hard to sell.
Add it to the pile
Add it to the stock
Here among the sewer rats
A breath away from hell
You get accustomed to the smell.

Well someone's got to clean 'em up, my friends
Bodies on the highway
Law and order upside down
Someone's got to collect their odds and ends
As a service to the town!

"My Old Kentucky Home" By Stephen C. Foster

Stephen C. Foster (1826-1864)
My Old Kentucky Home, Good Night!

1 The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home,
2'Tis summer, the darkies are gay,
3The corn top's ripe and the meadow's in the bloom
4While the birds make music all the day.
5The young folks roll on the little cabin floor,
6All merry, all happy and bright:
7By'n by Hard Times comes a knocking at the door,
8Then my old Kentucky Home, good night!

Isn't Rush the idiot who started the 'the adults are back in charge' bit?

What a laugh-- or better yet a tragedy to see Limbaugh exploiting the dead and dying just to get his fat ass on Broadway.

Blaming liberals for the hurricane? For the lack of response? Will he praise FEMA? Praise * as a "great leader"? "Stay the course" against that mean ole' hurricane? Tell 'em people deserved what they got for not leaving? Blame the Dems in LA government and praise the Repugs? Every penny of the money he raises better go to the victims. EVERY penny.

33. What a publicity stunt...
Rush could have donated several million without a blink.

He chose to show up on Broadway and do a "one-man benefit". Oh please. He's interjecting himself into a very, high-profile situation to position the conservatives as the compassionate, selfless ones who care about the hurricane victims. This also works to quiet the truth about most of them being racists.

This is all Rovian bull puckey.

The Bush Administration is desperately trying to shift attention away from their criminal negligence and onto the plight of the victims. Their inaction led to much of the death and harm we're seeing, but now they're going to use these victims to deflect attention from their recklessness.

Oh please. I'm so tired of the neocons using human beings as PR ploys.

I GUARANTEE YOU THIS...that sometime in the near future--when good Dems are discussing the negligence of this administration and the grave errors they made with regarding to Katrina, Rush will say this, "All these libs can do is COMPLAIN and look backward! They don't care about these victims! They don't care about their welfare! They only care about making Bush look bad! I did something! I raised money for these people. And I'm not tooting my own horn, people. Don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that while Republicans are doing something, the Dems are looking to ruin Bush. That's all these people are about, folks!"

Rush will USE his "good works" to illustrate how lovely he and the warmongering neocons are.

What a little pisher.

I wonder how long it took Rove to make that phone call to Rush--alerting him of the role he would play in the marketing theatrics?

38. Good work, folks
Trash a hurricane benefit that's going to raise a couple of hundred thousand dollars. Nice work. Good to see we're living up to the criticisms of the other side.

And nice comment about the folks from Long Island, YOY. Both counties on LI are majority Democrat, run by Democratic County Execs. Both counties went for Democrats in the last presidential election. Both counties were instrumental in electing Hillary Clinton to the Senate. Gee, yeah, I hate those Long Islanders.

44. What? Calling bullshit?
Rush on Broadway might raise a "few hundred thousand" - but that's chump change for a guy like Rush.

If he's serious, why doesn't he just donate a few million of his own funds, and/or spend the next couple of days running his show as a telethon to get all his dittoheads to pony up money. That would raise some serious green. Or, he could just do like Al Gore - drop serious money doing something useful while avoiding the spotlight.

He is the kind of guy that really inspires giving. I mean, this guy really lives it, always reaching out to help those in need, it brings a tear to my eye to think that he has to sober up enough to be propped up on stage to march out his diatribes of hate, venom and vomit. It makes you want to give...he is such a paragon of Christlike behavior, living it out on stage for all to see...Shit, I give up, words escape the inanity of such an idea.

58. The thought of him singing and dancing
is really funny actually.

He should open with a big production number from something like "Stomp" then a short comic monologue then a slower song like "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess.

I might also suggest "If I Were a Rich Man", thats a real crowd pleaser.

Given his checkered personal life something from "Rent" might also be appropriate.

60. I'm wondering if tickets will be available anywhere
I'm serious.

Why do I think that Rush and his buddies have already bought out the house, and the tickets will be distributed to upper echelon Pugs only? He's certainly not going to take the stage on Broadway in front of anything but a carefully screened audience. It would turn into a free-for-all.

There will be an approved guest list, photo ID will be checked for everyone but the very recognizable (Newt Gingrich and Rudolph Giuliani spring to mind,) and the press will be encouraged to STAY AWAY. Or, Option #2: Rush will become "indisposed" or "seriously ill" 24 hours prior to the show.
