Porter says U.S.-run Guantanamo camp better than Nevada prisons

ASSOCIATED PRESS

LAS VEGAS (AP) - The U.S. detention camp for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, compares favorably with Nevada prisons, and many captives are "happy" to be in a place they can get medical and dental care, Rep. Jon Porter said.

"I would only wish that my loved ones or anyone's loved ones could be treated as well if they were captured by (Osama) bin Laden," the Nevada Republican said Tuesday.

Porter was one of five U.S. House members who took a one-day escorted tour Monday of the military-run Guantanamo facility.

The delegation included Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairman of the House Government Reform Committee. It received a classified briefing from the camp commander, Brig. Gen. Jay Hood, toured medical facilities and maximum security and moderate security sections of the base and witnessed two interrogations.

You need to see the photos together to realize Porter actually is no Albert Einstein.

11. Who feels like eating drenched in one's own urine, etc.
and sporting some fashion of blood, real or simulated, from a female GI on one's face?

I think some of these loons didn't get the authentic immersion experience.

I'll bet that lemon chicken's just to die for, too! Two kinds of fruit, you say? What could be more delightful?

12. Firsst - that doesn't say very much about the Nevada Prison System.
Second - that's not even a good refutation of any of the crap that's been already proven.

Porter is unfortunately MY congressidiot - and Reid and the Dem establishment here don't seem to care much about it at all - in fact it's all just a "good-ol-boys" club - including Shelley. But I still like Shelly.

13. Well, why doesn't he just lock up some of his relatives with no charges,
no convictions and no sentences? They'll get free medical and dental. And comparing our practices to those of a proponent of mass murder? I don't think so. We're better than that. At least, we're supposed to be.

14. What a Munsingwear skidmark assclown!
Uh, Jon? Whatever the guys in prison in Nevada are in for, at least they were presumably informed of the charges against them, had access to legal counsel and were sentenced according to the laws on the books.

Whereas in Guantanamo . . . do I really need to go on?

What a scrote-belly!!

23. Porter back from Guantanamo: NV congressman says many captives are `happy
NV congressman says many captives are `happy to be there'

(this is disgusting but we can we expect, it's a Republican)
(and sorry about the time lapse, I had to clean my pc tonight due to blue screen troubles)

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jon Porter returned from a one-day visit with positive reviews of the detention camp for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Porter, R-Nev., said the military-run camp compares favorably to Nevada prisons, and that many of the captives "are happy to be there," where they can get medical and dental care.

"I would only wish that my loved ones or anyone's loved ones could be treated as well if they were captured by (Osama) bin Laden," Porter said.

Porter took an escorted tour Monday along with four other U.S. House members including Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairman of the House Government Reform Committee. They received a classified briefing from the camp commander, Brig. Gen. Jay Hood, toured medical facilities and maximum security and moderate security sections of the base and witnessed two interrogations.

25. Wrong Jon Porter
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 02:34 PM by abernste
The picture you have is John Porter from Illinois, who retired a few years ago. The only reason I point that out is because he was one of the BEST Republicans in Congress. The Jon Porter from Nevada is one of the WORST Republicans in Congress -- and that says a lot. This is the guy who made the Guantanamo comments:

One of the worst Republicans, you say! That can't be good.

Sorry for the error, glad you pointed it out. This one does look noticeably dumber than the other! He does look as bright as he sounds! Light's on, but nobody's home.
