BAGHDAD - Two US marines were killed in fighting near the Euphrates Valley town of Haditha in which air support was called in against Iraq insurgents, the military said on Friday.

The marines were killed Thursday “when their unit came under attack by small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades”, a brief statement said.

The deaths brought the total number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to 1,787, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.

The marines were killed in the same operation in which nine suspected insurgents were killed when US warplanes bombed buildings in Cykla, near Haditha.

2. True, but what the hell's the point in worrying about it anymore. That
arrogant coward said it all when he flipped off those reporters. He told them, and us by extension, to fo fuck ourselves.

It's a message that comes through loud and clear.

There are no decent republicans. Not if they let this loose cannon run around unrestrained and under the illusion that the stole two elections for emperor insteand of the democratically elected leader of a free country.

3. wha? There's still a warm-terra?
I thought we were in a glowball-strugga now, what's up with that?

I'm sure glad that we secured Cykla (which is near Haditha by the way) as I was very worried that it was not secure. I kept the kids in all day and out of the pool over my concern for the security situation in Cykla (which by the way is very close to Haditha.)

Remind me again why we are sacrificing our young men and women and killing lots of Iraqis?
