Australian bombing victim questions Howard on Iraq

An Australian victim of the London bombings has questioned the Prime Minister over whether the attack was related to the conflict in Iraq.

Shortly after arriving in the British capital, John Howard and his wife Janette paid a visit to the two Australians who remain in hospital after the July 7 attack.

Sydney-born Louise Barry was on the bus which explode at Tavistock Square. She has a broken neck and has had a halo brace pinned to her head.

During the Prime Minister's visit, Ms Barry asked Mr Howard whether he believed there was a link between the London bombings and the Iraq war.

"Everyone says that it's because of the Iraq war, do you reckon?" Ms Barry asked Mr Howard.

Howard said he is not worried that Ms Barry believes the London bombings are linked to the war in Iraq. :shrug:

He says the motivation is the same as that which prompted the October 2002 bombing of a nightclub in Bali, where 202 people died, including 88 Australians, which was before the March 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq.

Uh huh. So according to Little Johnny, a clear correlation in motive is self-evident between the Bali and London bombings, yet neither of these events could possibly be related to Iraq, seeing as....

"I remind you that terrorist attacks occurred before Iraq was on the radar screen, and those people who argue that this is really because of Iraq simply ignore those facts," Mr Howard told reporters.

Yep. She's just a simpleton ignoring the facts, even though she's lying in the hospital with a broken neck as you opine to the press gallery O great one of infinite toadyism.

Shame.

Mr Howard, who flew to Britain from the United States where he met US President George W Bush, is due to hold talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair later today.
