DNC Fundraising Tops $28 So Far in 2005

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Democratic National Committee has raised more than $28 million through the first half of 2005, boosted by online donations, the party said Monday.

Online donations have brought in five times as much money as the party raised online in 2003 - the last time the party was raising money in a non-election year.

Under new chairman Howard Dean, the Democrats have raised more than $1 million a week from about 600,000 donations. The Democrats' online effort included a monthly giving program called ``Democracy Bonds'' with about 15,000 donors signed up.

....

While Democrats say they are raising money at a faster pace than in 2003, they face a formidable challenge from the Republican National Committee, which was out-raising Democrats at a 2-1 pace through May of this year.

3. It takes UK paper to tell the truth about DNC fundraising and present
a balanced look at the fundraising stats.

7. Dean: Fundraising the old fashioned way
He earns it!

But how many Dems that chastised Gov. Dean are going to have their hands out for our money during election time? :eyes:

They better publically do something we want before getting a dime of that money after trashing him so heartily early in his term.
They know who they are...

12. And so does the good Doctor...
I have a feeling that all this tsk-tsk-ing Dean is going to dry up around the time the '06 mid-terms start up in earnest, and all the dino-dems realize that while they were trying to be GOP-lite, people-powered Howard was busy with the revolution....."and, um, now we need you, Dr. Dean. Sorry about not having your back in '05..."

Just an aside - I'm still not convinced that Dean had (or has) the temperment or subtlety to be President (not that the asshat we have NOW does)....but GODDAMN! he's breaking the mold for a party chairman, saying what needs to be said, and doing what needs to be done. And all without having the modern-politician's fear of having to please everybody to get elected...Keep on truckin', doc.:patriot:

11. Democracy Bonds??
Campaign contributions are not "democracy".

I see the GOP aren't the only ones who wipe their asses with the word.

13. Sure they are.
The people give their money as part of their contribution to the political process. Sounds like democracy to me. Now, that doesn't mean I am against campaign finance reform. It means that I don't see giving money to the politician(s) of your choice as incompatible with democracy.
