Blair's "darkest act": UK Tory leader in barnstorming attack
In rallying the party faithful at this year's Conservative Party conference, leader Iain Duncan Smith launched a surgical attack at Tony Blair's involvement in the affair of the death of WMD expert Dr David Kelly:

In a highly personal attack on the prime minister, he said Blair sees himself as "god in Blair world".

<snip>

Labour scandals since 1997 have shown the government's "dark side" but the treatment of government weapons expert Dr David Kelly was Mr Blair's "blackest act", he told the audience at the Blackpool Winter Gardens.

"This government used Dr David Kelly as a pawn in its battle with the BBC - his death was first and foremost a tragedy for those who loved him. But it shamed our country."

1. IDS is fighting for his leadership.
To me, it still won't make any difference to the Tories chances at the next election, although the promise to cut taxes will resonate with many, myself included. Having said that, I won't vote for him. Can see myself abstaining from the booth unless something drastic happens.

2. He's a creep and nothing will change the fact that the tories
are totally unelectable while Margaret Thatcher is still alive.

IDS is still remote controlled by her and is well known for his sinister Opus Dei connections and other unsavoury links.

The tories are going to have to re invent themselves like New Labour did and that means a centre-right party fronted by 35-45 year olds.

Blair is fair game right now but regardless of how much trouble he may be in over Kellygate, IDS is much more likely to lose HIS job than the PM.....

3. barnstorming?
He looks like a dull man espousing dull policies whilst desperately attempting to be assertive and "hip".

He's about as much threat to Tony Blair as a hamster.

4. Last year he said: "never under estimate the determination of....
...the quiet man"

This year he's a quiet but barnstorming hamster

5. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
The message to his internal critics from his one hour, two minute speech was that the only alternative to his leadership was electoral suicide.

Hate to tell you this Dimwit-Smith, but you are still totally unelectable. That is why so much of your own side dislikes you. The tories will only begin to stop the rot when they stop electing rotten leaders like Hague & Dimwit-Smith.

6. What b.s. If the Tories had been in power, they would have joined
Bush in his illegal Iraq escapades, even quicker than Poodle Boy. Who are they trying to fool?
