Sources: FBI to question White House officials in leak probe
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/08/leak.main/

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The FBI is expected to conduct the first interviews with White House officials concerning the leak of the identity of a CIA operative late Wednesday or Thursday, according to government sources.

The sources would not say who might be interviewed first or how many interviews would be conducted.

Sources told CNN on Wednesday that several "nongovernment" people have already been interviewed by the FBI as part of the probe.

Some officials think it is very unlikely that the FBI and career Justice Department prosecutors will be able find which officials leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame, who is former ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife, to columnist and CNN contributor Robert Novak.

1. I'd like to see the FBI get a search warrant for the information being...
...reviewed by the WH before they comply with the order--which was supposed to take effect yesterday--to turn it over to justice. Imagine if Clinton had defied such an order.

5. they don't need to turn over the info til the middle of the month
yesterday's deadline was imposed by the White House so they'd have time to "vet" the info before the DOJ deadline.

2. So.......can they just do whatever they want ?
No worries about breaking the law or whatever. If a lie needs to be told, then so be it! If someone's career or life needs "changing", then so be it!

3. So it's very unlikely the leakers will be found?
Bullshit. This is a stonewall, period.

7. This "very unlikely to find the leaker" shtick
is such an outrage. Why can't the media state the obvious--that Ashcroft has no intention of finding the leaker? This charade will continue until the White House is satisfied that the media has lost interest (which should be any day now). They they'll bury it.

The interesting question is, will the CIA stand by and let Ashcroft sabotage the investigation? For me this is the great unknown.

11. It is a charade
The one thing that keeps me hopeful is I think the Wash. Post could be looking at this as another Watergate. Dana Priest, the reporter, seems to be hot on the trail.

10. Real simple
ARREST NOVAK and take him to Gitmo, label him as an "Enemy Combatant" and let the Egyptians work him over..

should take about as long as it would take to make a cup of coffee..
