K Street grumbles about an entitlement culture -The Hill
An alleged sense of entitlement among some lawmakers and aides is raising hackles on K Street.

Speaking to The Hill on condition of anonymity, more than a dozen lobbyists said there are some on Capitol Hill who actively solicit lunches, drinks and other favors from K Street and seem to regard it as their personal expense account.

“The arrogance that brought Republicans into power is arrogance that will take them out of power, and that’s what you see more of on the Hill,” said a former GOP aide-turned-corporate lobbyist.
...
...A Senate staffer, who was having dinner at the Capital Grille, noticed a lobbyist across the bar, walked over to him and handed him his bill.
...Another lobbyist said a former senior leadership aide would “call to have lunch with you and bring staff with her. She’ll eat lunch and have to run and go to another meeting. … You’re happy to do it, but it’s rude not even pretending that the lunch is not for business.”

It's too amazing:

That the people who paid for the repukes' election, are upset the repukes still expect them to pay.

That congressmen are so casual about taking money and benefits from lobbyists that the cash cows are actually complaining.

That we have a system where people with money buy people with power.

Just amazing.

13. K Street is just trying to follow the business trend of cutting wages of
the people who work for them. Got to keep one's eye on the bottom line. Congressman watch out, minimum wage and McDonalds are in your future.

9. Cry me a river
Several GOP aides and lobbyists said Warren Tryon, a senior aide to Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), had earned the nickname “Mayor of Capitol Hill” because of his regular appearances at social events, fundraisers and corporate-sponsored trips. Tryon laughed and acknowledged the nickname but declined further comment.

His travel records show that the National Association of Security Dealers and Clear Channel paid for a trip each in 2003 to New York City; banking company ING gave him a ticket to a Yankees game; the National Cable Television Association flew him to Portland, Maine; and Citigroup sent him to The Lakes, Nev., to tour a credit-card center.

The National Association of Realtors and Security Industry Association paid for separate trips for Tryon to Florida. Clear Channel sent him to Los Angeles, Seattle Home Loan Bank took him to Seattle, and the Switzerland Visitor Agency flew him to Bern, Switzerland.

Tacky. Very tacky.

These congresscritters spread their legs for the corporatocracy, and the corporatocracy is too cheap to buy them lunch.

14. And the lobbyists are surprised???
They cowed to pressure from DeLay to hire only Republicans. That was their first mistake.

They made their bed when they decided to lay down with the pigs at the trough.
