LUANDA, Angola (AP) -- Angola's death toll from the outbreak of an Ebola-like virus has reached 146, authorities said Sunday.
The Health Ministry said in a statement that authorities had recorded 157 cases of the rare Marburg virus.
A team of six experts from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia, has arrived in Angola to help control the outbreak, the statement said. Foreign governments and aid groups also have rushed medical teams to the region.
The worst outbreak of the virus previously recorded killed 123 people in neighboring Congo between 1998 and 2000. That also was the last known outbreak.
