Russia Invites North Korea’s Kim to Take Part in Victory Day Celebrations
http://www.mosnews.com/news/2005/03/30/kiminvited.shtml

Russia has sent an official invitation to North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, asking him to attend Victory Day celebrations on May 9, Reuters reports.

“It is possible to expect his arrival in Moscow for this event,” Konstantin Pulikovsky, the presidential envoy to the Far Eastern region that shares a border with the communist state, said.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun is already scheduled to attend and Kim’s presence would open up the prospect of only the second inter-Korean summit five years after the first in Pyongyang. It could also mean an unprecedented encounter between a U.S. president and a North Korean leader since George W. Bush has also said he will attend. However, earlier this year the U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice described North Korea as an “outpost of tyranny”.

North Korea was Russia’s Cold War ally and the bilateral relations between the two countries are still good. At the time of Kim’s visit to Moscow in 2000 Russian President Vladimir Putin described him as a man “it is possible to do business with”.

1. Now, there's an interesting article.
Just imagine, Kim Jong Il flies to Moscow to attend the celebrations. Won't that create some headlines.

Of course, since Bush is going, I doubt very much that Kim will go. They don't get along very well.

Still, it would have been great to see Kim in his platform shoes and puffy haircut.

2. Indeed
* would have to outdo Kimmy and bring his biggest platform shoes.

Kim would need to respond by arriving at the meeting with extra body in the bouffant, just to get that height advantage.

3. Kim and Bush could have a fist fight at the Kremlin.
Putey Pute could referee - he looks like he wouldn't have any trouble keeping those two in line. The IMF could supply a betting line, and people could place bets through UNICEF, which would get a small cut to help feed malnourished kids around the world. The loser of the fight would have to agree to STFU. The winner could strut around on a Russian aircraft carrier, with a "Mission Accomplished" banner.

It would be win-win for the whole world.
