First Korean Stem Cell-Based "Dream Drug" Enters Commercial Testing
Korea’s first clinical demonstration will be carried out to commercialize a stem-cell remedy, which is considered a “hope” for curing various incurable diseases and cancers.

On March 13, the Korea Food & Drug Administration (KFDA) revealed its plan, saying, “Recently, the Ajou University Hospital and FCD-Pharmacell, a bioventure company, handed in a report on its ‘Project to Conduct Clinical Demonstrations to Commercialize A Stem-cell Remedy for Cerebral Infarction,’ and we will authorize the project without delay.”

So far, there have been a few clinical demonstrations of stem-cell treatments for research purposes. But, the upcoming clinical study is the first one for “commercial” purposes, which means the development of a new medicine.

Even with highly positive results from academic clinical experiments, developers are required to go though “commercial clinical demonstrations” to put out new drugs.

1. I don't know how others feel about this
but I think it's amazing. I can't wait to get my degree and get involved in science like this! It will be especially nice to show this to Laura Bush- Ms. "this isn't going to happen any time soon", this'll show em.

3. For this, the US government would give research funds.
Adult stem cells not the same as embryonic stem cells. This uses adult stem cells.

Although it is too late to "fix" my paralysis, the thought of those w/new injuries/illnesses being spared my torment, makes my heart smile.

8. And now rich people will be able to go there and get "cured"
while poor and middle classers will have to stay home and buy drugs from Big Pharma to try to keep symptoms at bay.. They pile one pill on top of another, and before you know it, you're buying 10 pills because of the side effects from the few that might actually help you..:(

7. And since stroke is one of the leading causes
of bankruptcy and loss of medical insurance coverage, people from all civilized nations will benefit from it, Americans, almost nada, unless you are rich, or maybe you have your stroke after this is commonplace.

I predict that I will live long enough to see this available to rich people, but not to me, or any of the other Murkans with no health insurance.
