Two US Workers Killed in Roadside Bomb Attack
By TODD PITMAN, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two American security contractors were killed and a third wounded in a roadside bomb attack south of the Iraqi capital, the U.S. Embassy said Sunday.

The three were working for Blackwater Security, a North Carolina-based contracting firm that provides security for State Department officials in Iraq (news - web sites). They were attacked on the main road to Hillah, south of Baghdad, U.S. Embassy spokesman Bob Callahan said.

In other violence, a U.S. soldier was gunned down late Saturday in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The death brought to at least 1,514 the number of U.S. military personnel killed since the war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

Foreign contractors, too, are often targeted by anti-U.S. guerrillas. At least 232 American civilian security and reconstruction contractors had been killed in Iraq through 2004, according to the Washington-based Brookings Institution.

The Blackwater employees killed Saturday were believed to be traveling in a black Chevrolet Suburban, a foreign security official in Baghdad said on condition of anonymity. The road south of Baghdad traverses an area known as the "Triangle of Death" because of the frequency of insurgent attacks.

6.  Security workers die in Iraq
TWO US contractors working with a security firm were killed in a roadside attack in Iraq that left another company employee injured, the State Department said today.

"These men were assigned to the US embassy in Iraq to protect American diplomats," said spokesman Richard Boucher.

He said officials in Washington were "saddened" by the men's deaths at the weekend.

"They played a vital role in our mission to bring democracy, and opportunity to the people of Iraq," Mr Boucher said.

8. People in Iraq to profit off of war
Unlike the troops they have a choice as to being in Iraq. They chose to go to Iraq to make money off of an illegal, immoral and unnecessary war and the chickens finally came home to roost for them.

13. U.S. diplomats should be protected by U.S. soldiers
Or even by Iraqi National Guard (or whatever this week's name is) since they are the theoretical government of the country.

Two U.S. security contractors killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Two Americans working for a company that provides security for the U.S. Embassy were killed by a roadside bomb south of Baghdad, the embassy said Sunday.

The pair, and a third American contractor who was wounded in the blast, were attacked while riding in a car Saturday between Baghdad and Hilla, embassy spokesman Robert Callahan said.

The contractors were employed by Blackwater Security, he said.

Meanwhile, Ukraine began pulling troops out of Iraq as part of a phased withdrawal of its complete 1,650-man contingent, the sixth largest in the U.S.-led coalition.

10. My landlord is ex-military, planning on being a private contractor in Iraq
He's leaving behind a wife and two children. I can see when you don't have the choice, when you're in the military and don't have an out. This guy is putting a fat paycheck ahead of his wife and kids.
