Foreign Minister Alexander Downer confirmed tonight the Australian embassy had moved into the international sector in Baghdad known as the Green Zone.
"Embassy staff will live and work from temporary premises in UK embassy facilities until the permanent Australian chancery is completed later this year," Mr Downer said in a statement.
The diplomats had been based at the Australian and US military headquarters, known as Camp Victory, for the past six weeks after they were evacuated from the original embassy, in a residential suburb, following a suicide bomb attack on January 19.
