US Troops Say it's Hard to Get Medical Care

WASHINGTON — National Guardsmen and reservists who are injured on active duty face daunting and sometimes insurmountable hurdles to get medical care, soldiers and military officials told a congressional panel Thursday.

The troops described an Army bureaucracy that loses track of wounded reservists, drops medical coverage before some are healed and often inflicts hardships on families.

Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., chairman of the House Committee on Government Reform, described the problems injured Guardsmen and reservists face as "the equivalent of financial and medical friendly fire."

The panel heard sometimes-emotional testimony from Guard soldiers who have been wounded in battle and administrators responsible for helping them navigate the medical system.

1. Most soldiers come from middle and working class families.

The repugs think that these soldiers should feel honored to die and be maimed for the benefit of the rich. Must protect oil and other greedy interests. Pay for medical care for vets? That might cut into their big tax cuts. Heaven forbid! How dare they complain! And don't think if the draft comes back any of THEIR children will be in the military.

Chicken hawks support tax cuts and troops can go to hell. I pray that there is a God to banish Bush and his kind to eternal hell.

Don't often feel that way about others, but Bush proclaims he is a fine Christian man of faith who prays to Jesus and Christians believe him. Shame on them, and most of all shame on him. I think hell is the eternal separation from God. Considering the damage Bush has done to my and many others' faith, that seems a fitting destination for him and all his evil minions.

Sorry...feeling kind of harsh tonight. I continue, however, to pray for the troops. Hope those prayers are heard and heeded somewhere.

4. there doesn't need to be a hell to banish bush to.

we've got iraq.

but seriously...most every culture/religion has some sort of place the evil go. i'm sure bush is going wherever he deserves. either he'll come back as an insect, or worse, born into a poor family so he would feel the punishment he's placed upon them...or he'll be in teh 9th layer of hell, chatting with judas and brutus while he's chewed on by the mouth of satan...or he'll simply become nothing, the worse punishment of the damned.
