Capitol environmentalism

A coalition of people ranging from doctors to environmentalists laid out their legislative agenda Tuesday morning.

The Alliance for a Clean Texas, or ACT, says it has four broad goals in mind for this session with state lawmakers.

They want to enforce existing laws including fines for violators and increase the enforcement budget, reduce power plant emissions and enforce proper water protection and more renewable energy.

"We can and we must advance our renewable energy goals. We have the homegrown natural resources to lead the renewable energy industry," Karen Hadden of the SEED Coalition.

ACT claims to have a coalition of supporters including fishermen, environmentalists, doctors and religious leaders.

In other words, ACT is being set up to do the job the old EPA used to do but don't because they are now on the side of the polluters.
