Half of voters want abortion ruling upheld, poll finds (also same-sex info
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A majority of voters want to know in advance how a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court would rule on abortion and half want President Bush to nominate justices who would uphold the decision making abortion legal, a poll released Wednesday found.

The national poll by Quinnipiac University found that 62 percent of voters say a nominee to the high court should publicly state his or her position on abortion. By a 50-34 percent margin, voters say Bush should nominate justices who would uphold the Roe v. Wade decision making abortion legal in the first three months of pregnancy.

"By a big majority, Americans want to know in advance how a Supreme Court nominee would vote on Roe v. Wade. And half of the voters want that nominee to uphold the historic abortion ruling," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Nearly two-thirds of voters oppose a law allowing same-sex marriages and by a 51-45 percent margin oppose a law to legalize same sex civil unions. The poll found that 53 percent of voters oppose amending the U.S. Constitution to ban same sex marriage.

4. Extreme
Majority of people never read what that consitutional amendment said and the media CONVENIENTLY leaves out a KEY PHRASE. People have NO IDEA the can of worms that would open up. "LIFE LONG UNION of one man and one woman." If those 3 words are inserted into legislation, that would open the door to even banning DIVORCE.

As far as the partial "birth" abortion ban goes, once again how many people have actually READ the bill. They seem to think this is about a 8 or 9 month fetus. Nope. The bill bans a D&X starting at 21 WEEKS. Do the math. This is no full term fetus almost ready to be born.

Even that Connor Peterson law making it a separte mruder has even more far reaching consequences. That one states from CONCEPTION ON. Please tell me HOW the hell they are going to PROVE THAT one? Welcome to the CHRISTIAN TALIBAN of the USA.

I simplly cannot believe how completely DECEITFUL this administration is, how CONTROLLED the Media is, and how the public is being DUPED with smoke and mirrors.

READ, PEOPLE, READ.

8. You are 100% correct on the misinformation of America
I explained until I was blue in the face about the partial birth abortion issue. I can tell you that I found only a handful of people who knew how rare it was and that it was used ONLY in a life or death situation of the mother.

I agree that the public on a whole is being duped. However, most of the people I have talked to about this did not want to believe the truth and looked at me as if I were a lying freak. Tell me, how do you enlighten people who don't want to see the truth?

2. Basically, a majority wants Roe v. Wade upheld, yet they voted for Bush.

3. But the voting part is questionable
The majority of people I know want it upheld, but my percentages must be way off of what was reported to be the votes in the last election.
