President Barack Obama waited too long to take control of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, despite the fact that federal law puts him in charge, Republican political strategist Karl Rove said Friday.

Rove also said he can’t understand why it has taken Obama 52 days to meet with the head of oil giant BP.

“They have been late in acknowledging the magnitude of the problem, and late in visiting the scene,” said Rove, a former senior adviser for President George W. Bush.

Rove was the guest speaker at a dinner held in honor of Republican activist and fundraiser Duane Acklie of Lincoln. About 350 people attended the event sponsored by the Nebraska Republican Party at the Embassy Suites in La Vista.

I personally don't understand many things either. Why did it take Obama 52 days to meet with the CEO of BP? Why wasn't BP challenged from the start when they were saying they don't even need to know how much oil was gushing out? Why does cleaning of already spilled oil appears to be so inadequate?

Do you have any idea that this is hell on earth for Rove? He's
at the Embassy Suites in La Vista, Nebraska. Taking potshots
at Obama from the remotest podunk in the whole of the US is
about how bad it has gotten for Rove. Just wait to see how he
