Any English Premier League fans here?
Crappiest Boxing Day ever for a wide range of reasons. But Aston Villa's stoppage-time equaliser may have just salvaged what little regard I have for this day.

1. Yep.

That equaliser nearly ruined that game for me. It was exciting though and nice to see the Gunners back on form for a good part of the match.

I enjoyed City's win against Hull. Great effort from City's players. Half-watching the Portsmouth match now.

21. No mention of Hull's bizarre half time team talk in that match?
Why go out onto the pitch for that?

And I wonder what you lot made of Ricardo Fuller being sent off for slapping his own team captain.

22. That was terrible... I wonder if he's used that tactic before.
Edited on Mon Dec-29-08 10:58 AM by redqueen
I never liked that Phil Brown, though at first it was only for his facial hair, which isn't really fair. Now I have a good reason.

I missed that slap from Fuller... I'm just watching the review show now.

Do you think Boro can hold Utd to a draw? They can be a thorn in the sides of the big teams it seems. Fingers crossed.

Whoa what the... Gerrard was arrested...

23. I doubt he's done that before
In all honesty though, I like Phil Brown.

I can't see Boro getting a result against Man U (who I can see making up ground on Liverpool and really challening for the title)

And we shall see how the Gerrard arrest thing goes. I can't comment as I haven't heard everything about that case.

24. It was bizarre.
Having them sit on the ground in front of the fans... like some pee wee league. Don't see how he thought that'd help.

After seeing Fulham hold Chelsea to a draw, I'm hopeful about Boro. That first goal from Dempsey was freakily wonderful. :)

2. Right here
After blowing a two goal lead today, and coupled with the injury to Fabregas exposing more of what was already a weak middle, I'm starting to worry about Arsenal's chances of finishing in the top four.

3. What's up with this, Upton.
An SEC fan watching English Premier? That's like a line dancer listening to Broadway show tunes. Just not natural. You surprise me.

4. Me, too.
I haven't really got to watch as much as I'd like this season, but Fulham is really having a surprising season. They're only 5 points above relegation, though, so anything can happen.

What do you think about Villa - can they stay in the top 4?

6. I don't think they will.
Edited on Sat Dec-27-08 01:40 AM by redqueen
I think it's possible... I think they can... but I don't think they will.

If not for that stupid penalty Gallas handed them today, I don't think they'd have come back into the game at all. IMO that gave them their confidence back and opened the door for them. They spent more money over the summer than any other team besides City... and they're still barely able to scrape by without Young playing his best. There are a lot of games left to play... I just don't think they have the depth in their squad to hang in there.

btw... who is in the #2 spot in the DU League?

10. exciting end to the Blackburn - Man City match
Edited on Sun Dec-28-08 01:19 PM by Cush
Man City was up 2 - 0. Blackburn scored in the 87th(?) minute and then tied it in the 94th minute (there were 4 min of extra time)

I played as a kid and then spent a couple of seasons as a Linesman (now called Assistant Refs), just started following the BPL earlier this year

14. I genuinely love this thread.
Every four years, I passionately follow the World Cup. When it's over, I mourn. I've tried watching American soccer but I can't get excited by it. Now then. How do I find English Premier soccer?

17. You can watch all the games online
here: http://livetv.ru/en/

You'll have to download a player though.

This is how I see the games that aren't on FSC.

19. Get Setanta
for 14.99 a month..Plus they show Champions League matches that ESPN doesn't show. With Setanta and FSC I never have to miss an Arsenal match.

BTW, Wisconsin did a real nice job of representing the Big Ten. Must be some more of that cyclical stuff rearing it's ugly head, huh?

20. Thanks, Upton, for the tip
I'll be the first one to tell you I don't expect much from the Big Ten this year. I think my Hawks will win but I wouldn't put any $$ on it. Aside from that, we have a real possibility of losing them all. Wow. Wisconsin did look like shit, though.

25. Park Ji Sung gave us one of the more funny misses of the season yesterday.
Just a couple of minutes after Berbatov gave United the lead, Park found his way onto a perfect pass, all alone inside the six-yard box, and managed to sky it over the crossbar. It would be one thing if the keeper had come across and pulled off some amazing diving save or something like that, but this was just a flat-out whiff. I wish I could find the video, but it's bound to pop up on YouTube one of these days.

Watching the second half of Hull-Villa now.
