3. AZ: Maricopa County (Phoenix) – Huge Republican Election Fraud Scandal

. AZ: Maricopa County (Phoenix) – Huge Republican Election Fraud Scandal Br

Brad Friedman rocks again. He’s on top of the election fraud scandal in Arizona. Republicans doing it to Republicans (no, it’s not Gannon!) in a primary election. Ballots appearing out of nowhere, charges and counter charges….remember the first ballot for DeLay’s replacement by the Republicans—more votes than House Representatives; they can’t resist themselves.

Blogged by Brad on 1/20/2006 @ 10:35am PT...

Election Fraud Cover-Up/Mystery/Circus, with Potential National Ramifications, Continues to Unravel in Arizona
http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002307.htm

439 Ballots Appear Out of Nowhere during 2004 Republican Primary State Senate Recount; Incident Explodes into Bizarre Public Spectacle of Alleged Election Fraud, Failed Electronic Voting Machines and Elected State Officials All Twisting in the Wind...

What are Election Officials in Maricopa County, AZ Hiding and Why Will They Not Allow the Inspection of Ballots Stored (illegally and mysteriously) in an Unguarded, Non-Air Conditioned Cement Blockhouse Near the Airport?

Election Reform advocates have been turning out in droves at several recent public hearings in State Senates around the country. This week, official hearings were held in both California and Arizona concerning the unparalleled mess in which each state now finds itself in regards to Elections and Electronic Voting.

1. It's difficult not to recommend a thread with the words
"Huge", "fraud", and "scandal" in the title. :-)

This is the thing that I believe is slowly entering the consciousness of Republicans: they won't be getting to vote, either.

"Get over it", indeed.

3. Check out this great local reporting done by the Phoenix New Times

This guy Dougherty has done an excellent job and many stories on this unfolding in slow motion election fraud.

From the articles posted below, you can click to all the stories he's written on this case.

4.  John Q, have you posted that in the Arizona Forum?
It might even be worth a shot to post it in General Discussion with some choice quotes.

5. Wasn't AZ hotly contested in 2000 and 2004? I seem to remember
very late returns because of the close results. Sure would be nice to have it go Dem in 06 and 08.

6. This is nonsense. This has to do only with a repug primary and one of the
Repugs involved is a really decent guy who did nothing wrong. Election Reform Advocates are barking up the wrong tree with this one.

7. Apparently you're not paying attention saracat...
...Either that, or you don't give a damn.

That nice Republican you mention, is the one who seems to have gotten screwed here, and is one of the folks trying to find out what happened.

If you read the story, you'll learn that this is about MUCH more than the Republican Primary race being questioned.

The Election officials in Maricopa County and SoS Jan Brewer may be in for a whole world of hurt as this moves forward.

Read the story.

13. well, I read the story
While the LD20 matter might, at first blush, seem to be a rather localized affair, enough evidence has come forward to suggest the mysteries involved in this case may ultimately reveal a much wider conspiracy of Electoral Fraud with broad national implications.

OK, well, get back to us on that.

Brad, the way your story veers from 'See, we were right, this is an urgent national concern' to 'Hey, stay tuned, eventually we may be able to show that this is an urgent national concern' -- well, I guess it works for some folks.

Certainly there are at least two national concerns here: (1) fraud or no fraud, optical scanners can't be counted on to give reliable results, and (2) local officials get a lot of slack.

17. "Show that this is an urgent national concern"
Well, we seem to agree:
Opscans are crap and can be easily corrupted.

Since opscans are gonna be the main way - nationally - that votes are counted, then this already IS a national issue. If Brad is successful getting the the national press to cover it, then the nation will finally become nationally concerned. Let's hope he is successful.

Go Brad.

officials. If this was just about "the Wicked Witch of the West " as we call her, I would concur with you but the Democratic Party has worked very closly with the Board of Elections in Maricopa County and they have always been very responsible. And exactly how do you know who the Republican I reference is?" The "nice Republican" I mention is actually being blamed.(And no it isn't Brewer, obviously)

9. The Republicans eat themselves...canabalism in the desert...
...the gang that can't count straight...count me out...they may be phantoms, but at least they're ballots...f' em if they can't take a joke...eat it Republicans, eat it at this guy's jail...

RECOMMENDED and just remember this:

In the first vote for Delay's replacement, there were more ballots than there were Republican House memebers. It all makes sense as soon as you adjust the lens.

11. unrelated - but AZ vote fraud/registration scandal refresher:
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/101504A.shtml

Ex-worker says he saw Demos' forms trashed.
Democrats in Nevada charged in a lawsuit Wednesday that a company paid by the Republican National Committee destroyed voter-registration forms they had collected from Democratic voters.

Similar allegations have surfaced in Oregon and West Virginia, where the group has been active.

---snip

In an affidavit filed with the lawsuit, Russell said he was told to ask prospective voters, "Who would you vote for in the next election?" He said he was told to register only those who supported President Bush.

"I personally witnessed my supervisor at VOA, together with her personal assistant, destroy completed registration forms that VOA employees had collected," said Russell. "All of the destroyed registration forms were for registrants who indicated their party preference as 'Democrat.'

---snip

Voters Outreach of America is run by Nathan Sproul, an Arizona GOP political consultant whose firm, Sproul & Associates, has been paid nearly $500,000 by the Republican National Committee to do voter outreach.

Sproul denied Russell's allegations in an interview with the Associated Press and said Russell was a disgruntled employee who had been fired. Sproul did not return calls from the Mercury News.

12. Repubs are more likely, I would imagine, to be able to get access to the
election records, etc. This is a great story to follow. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.
