1. Lovely, I 'll have to gulp, get a copy
and cull it to see if there is anything in there even remotely possible

Most importantly, think of the effect on the base of the Bush Administration, many of them get their news from teh Globe and the National Enquirer, seed a little doubt I say

If they have a web site, it isn't apparent.

32. I thought of that when the "Bush Is Drinking" story was in NE.
A lot of Bush supporters probably read those magazines.

13. I don't know it for a fact, but I was told that
The Enquirer first broke the Clinton/Lewinsky story and it was discredited then as well.

As we all know, the Enquirer supposedly broke the "Drinking Again" story some time ago, but like the rest of the sane world, I was waiting to see if it was picked up anywhere else. I wish it was MSM and not some tabloid, but it's a start when more than one carries it.

23. The sad thing though
is that there actually ARE very mentally damaged folks who BELIEVE that crap.

(Hilariously, the folks who publish that were once sued by somebody whose picture they used, and went into court to argue that no sane person could believe what they printed was true. Even funnier, as I recall, they lost.)

I don't remember which tabloid, or the person, but they thought she(I think it was a she) was dead and used her picture with an unrelated story.

42. 90% Of Weekly World News Is Actual Real Quirks
I was a top wire service editor for more than a decade. Most of the Weekly World News stuff is real. The cover stories, though, are generally imaginative fiction.

Everything beyond immediate phenemonology is/are propositions of hypothetical probabilities, speculative co-relations.

About bush being drunk.

I hate Bush. But come on. When we use sources like these to bash him, it makes us look pathetic.

to be a turncoart, just as stephanopoulous was for clinton, although not quite?
.... novakula needs to give more read meat to his article since he probably knows a whole lot more.

34. oooh - I relish the thought that this is down in my local grocery store
RIGHT NOW.

For all the fundie, flag-waving, GOP-loving nutjobs to see. I can't wait until it reaches a critical mass, the MSM turns, and they are surrounded with signs of their failure and feel ostracized as we have for so long.

36. Saw That While In Queue
Have you noticed that until Scooter resigned, even the tabloids left the White House alone? Since I saw this right next to another rag claiming a beef between Hillary and Oprah, I'm betting that the tabloid gloves are off.

Since the FBI never issued a conclusive decision on the South Florida anthrax scare a while back, this seems only fitting.

As I posted elsewhere about this clip, when other DUers mentioned that they thought he was drunk on other clips, I doubted it. Not this time.

40. The pre-emptive leak is an established Rovean gambit: get ..
.. a garbled version of the story out and loudly discredit it, before the accurate version comes out.

W has been "immunized" by this gambit more than once: a classic example was the attack on the story about W's National Guard srvice in Fall 2004, where a number of independent stories disappeared under a smokescreen generated by attacks against ONE of thosde stories.

I won't quote the Globe, because I expect the story contains embedded Trojan Horses designed for exploitation by the rightwing noise machine -- but the general theme of the story is quite likely to be true ...

44. He May Not Actually be Drunk
He may have a neurological disease (explains increasing problems with word-finding, metaphor mixing, and speech slurring, etc.) or he may have had a stroke or heart attack (remember the chin spittle and probable earpiece during the debates?)

Regardless--the main questions are do his physical/mental impairments, whatever the cause, prevent him from adequately fulfilling his constitutional duties? And if the answer is yes, should he be impeached?
