Cheney calls Rumsfeld "The best Secretary of Defense the country ever had."

no link

This was just on CNN Headline News.

I guess it makes sense to praise Rumsfeld because things are splendid in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Wait, a second. Things are awful in those countries. Never mind.

40. Cheney also said
in Mar 03 that "I actually think we'll be welcomed with open arms in Iraq" - not the exact quote - I can't find the exact one.

I also note that the Economist - not what you'd call a progressive publication has now called on both of them to resign. This administration is in trouble.

64. GENERAL MYERS TRIBUTE TO UNMUZZLED WORKING POLICE DOGS
SCHINDLER'S LIST

Ralph Fiennes plays a chilling Amon Goeth in the movie, and plays him to the point that some
people have had trouble distinguishing him from the real thing.

Poldek Pfefferberg, one of the Schindler Jews, famously said, "When you saw Göeth, you saw
death."

4. The first attack on continental America since the war of 1812
Unbelievable. 9-11 was stupendously incompetant. (I know, it was really treason but... for our purposes...) Even a third world nation could have got fighter planes up in the air quicker than this misadministration.

16. Sorry, must disagree with your history.
"The first attack on the American Continent since the War of 1812" is not true. Going back in time, the Japanese launched several attacks on the west coast (to little effect, I'll admit), Then there was the whole civil war thing, the Mexican American war, the various indian wars...

Biggest attack from another continent since the war of 1812 I'll give you...

25. Japanese did several attacks on the US...
Including shore bombardment by submarine, bombing by submarine launched seaplane, and the 'balloon bombs'...

And Japanese records show the DID attempt to attack a west coast oil refinery (the submarine shore bombardment).

They didn't accomplish much... one balloon bomb killed a group of picknicers in Oregon, other than that...

49. What was the Philippine-American War 1899-1902 all about?
The Filipinos death toll was stagging.

The war lasted three years, and cost the Americans 10,000 casualties and US $600 million. Some 16,000 soldiers were killed in battle. About 200,000 civilians succumbed to pestilence, disease, and crossfire during the war.

65. After the Spanish American War...
The U.S. took over control of the Philipines... There were already Guerrilla groups of Philipinos operating against the Spanish. Some lay down thier arms when the U.S. came in, promising democracy; others fought against the U.S. as more foriegn occupiers. Most of the guerrillas who continued to fight were Moslems, called Moros... It's usually refered to as the 'Moro Rebelion'.

Pancho Villa, a Mexican bandit, conducted a raid on Columbus, New Mexico, a small border town north of the Mexican border. It sparked a large goosechase expedition into Mexico ordered by Woodrow Wilson an let by General Pershing and Pancho Villa became a Mexican folk-hero a la Robin Hood.

8. Make sure the Army brass heard what Chicken Hawk Dick said
These guys need to clearly understand what and whom Cheney values. It will help them make important decisions.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A11227-2004May8.html

<snip> Some officers say the place to begin restructuring U.S. policy is by ousting Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, whom they see as responsible for a series of strategic and tactical blunders over the past year. Several of those interviewed said a profound anger is building within the Army at Rumsfeld and those around him.

A senior general at the Pentagon said he believes the United States is already on the road to defeat. "It is doubtful we can go on much longer like this," he said. "The American people may not stand for it -- and they should not."

24. Cheney, "Yes, the best we've ever had".
Cheney smiles a big, approving smile, as only he can. Even though his smile is twisted, at least the left side manages to curve upward.

The right side is permanently curved in a downward sneer, which, which exposes his lower teeth. The teeth stick out, resembling a horse which is stretching to reach something, like maybe a juicy elm branch to munch on.

As Dick continues with his gushing oratorio of support, his heart contracts yet once more, pumping blood through his system, damaged from several heart attacks and quadruple bypass surgery. The blame was placed on Lynne and her high-fat cooking: it turns out that Dick's arteries were clogged with thick, toothpaste-like plaque which came from years of eating junk food and greasy hamburgers.

His hard-working heart beats faster at the thought of losing Rummy. He tries not to think that far ahead. Anything that makes his heart beat faster must be avoided, he thinks. Dick is only too well aware of a big, gaping hole in his aorta which they were never able to repair.

He tries not to think too far ahead.....

31. Rummy is Cheney's alter ego
Rummy is the more able of the two men. Rummy is out front doing the direct work with the Congress and press every day intercepting all comers. Cheney skulks around in the background, secretive and avoiding as much contact with the outside world as possible. He knows the schemes and plots the two men have cooked up for bigger wars and more profits and power after November (if not sooner). These may have less chance of success if Rummy goes down. Together they rule the roost, without Rummy, Cheney is just another vice president who will have lost influence in the cabinet by losing his most effective asset.

Maybe they could make Karen Hughes secretary of defense. Karl Rove? At any rate the Army rebellion may be short lived if it doesn't succeed. With the new draft to come, there will be promotions and medals for all junior general officers and general officer aspirants.

well, now we know where the input for hiring the Indy Contractors came from, and why?

Cheney was in chg of BushIs armed forces and had the opportunity to scrutinize the rules poking around looking for loopholes..

Ok..so he found a way to penetrate the system and rise above the law..

Next Question-

Why would anyone stay up nights to think of the most humiliating, horrendous, punishment they could deploy on the Muslim race?

Cheney, Bush and Rumy RACISTS?
