7. Politics = Sports
Repubs and Dems are like rival sports teams. We are the respective fans.

They say the fans are important but it's really about the money.

They don't care what's best for the fans. They care about winning.

They use marketing and promotional tricks to get you to root for them. Instead of 'One for the thumb' it's 'Yes we can.'

Conventions are pep-rallies. Nomination speeches are trash talking fodder for newspapers. Elections are the Superbowl.

Obama was a young starting QB (state Senator) who was groomed for the pros. Bush was the journeyman QB that had never had any success but was convinced to play one more season.

Instead of the west coast offense you have the Southern Strategy.

You don't draft the best athlete - you vote for the one who can help you win.

The sad thing is fans for the most part know their fans. Voters actually think they matter.

It's a game boys and girls brought to you with corporate sponsorship.
