'Middle class' as used in our present political discourse here is only a euphemism for 'worker with an income over the poverty line', since one of the great open secrets here is that labor and workers are despised in our culture and social arrangements.

Most of the people who vote for Republican candidates consistently would, however, describe themselves as 'middle class' or 'lower middle class', and describe the source of their travails in life as having to support 'poor people' with their 'hard-earned taxes'.

The most reliable indicators of Republican voting are racial (white), gender (male), religiousity (frequent church-goer, evangelical or 'born-again' protestant), residence (outside a city, in rural or semi-rural district, or outer suburb bed-room community).
