When I served...Not just the flu shot but a whole array of shots were mandatory especially if you were qualified for world wide deployment.
I did not know of anyone getting out of shots while i was in unless you had a true medical reason why you should not get a certain shot.
The Typhoid Shot was the worst shot I had to get...It not only made you feel nasty sometimes after getting it but it always made your arm so freaking sore!! If your buddies knew you got a Typhoid shot they would punch your shoulder when you were not expecting it! Fun times! LOL!
