Is it really that much of a chore to manage two queues? :shrug: It's clearly two separate businesses (one of which is rapidly headed to the Bin of Outmoded Technology) and it makes sense to have them running as such.

I recently went to one disc at a time because I was streaming most everything anyway. Sure, lots of films/programs aren't available that way yet, but when DVDs first kicked off it took a while to get some material in the format -- this will help ramp things up even faster. Physical entertainment media is going the way of the dodo.
