He spent WWI in Pennsylvania training tank crews. I think he was a great General, a great Supreme Allied Commander, and a great President, but I think he spent his whole military career as a paper pusher. MacArthur gave him a back handed compliment one time after he was President by saying "He'll be a fine President, he was the best clerk I ever had."
