Yes, National Health Care could have been the Crowning Jewel of the President's first term. Instead, he sold out to the health insurance industry, saddling the country with what is really a fascist (in the sense of melding governmental and corporate interests) requirement to buy their profit laden health insurance products. This is consistent with the 9th characteristic of fascism: Power of Corporations Protected.

Doesn't get much more protected than the government requiring you to buy an over-priced, profit laden product or be fined.

Remember, single-payer representatives weren't even allowed at the table.
