106. Thank you - hadn't seen that poll
Gotta say I'm stumped. Obvious snarky response is "because they're fucking idiots?"
Otherwise, I honestly can't say, other than he also enjoys 85% among Moderate Dems and 69% with Blue Dogs (pretty close to Clinton's at a similar point in his presidency). Maybe it's a partisan thing or, as I've read ad nauseum, "the alternative is Palin."

I *do* know that he seems to stay on the CPC's shit list, as well as those of many / most commonly recognized liberal groups, pundits and voters for reasons like these:

Tax cut deal
Gitmo
"Obamacare" - individual mandate with no public option, etc.
State Secrets shield
Targeted killings
Indefinite detention
Going after Assange
Military tribunals
Staff picks
Wall St non-reform
His piss-poor "negotiating" style
Backing Blue Dogs and others over progressive/lib challengers (Lincoln, Lieberman, etc.)
Afghanistan - escalation
Iraq - basically co-opting Hillary's plan
Handling of BP
Warrantless wiretaps
Extraordinary rendition
Foot dragging on LGBTQ issues
Telecom immunity
Open carry in Nat'l parks

I could probably go on and have definitely missed some biggies but I have a lousy memory and a full load of vicodin - bottom line is, this guy is NOT a liberal. He served in the Senate as a centrist, ran in '08 as a centrist and governs as a centrist. Quack quack.
