As you well know, my wife (your daughter), who works in the family business (as do I) and has MS, had a bad fall three weeks and broke her arm, requiring surgery. The night before this email, she had a seizure (her first ever) and we spent the night in the ER.

Between these two incidents, we now face medical bills that even WITH insurance will cost us $6,000+ and counting, out of our own pocket. Added to our insurance premiums and medication co-pays this year, and we will be spending about a quarter of our income on medical bills.

So, you will understand that for the above mentioned reasons, this Democrat doesn't find your message particularly funny or uplifting.
