2. Because fuck him, that's why
And if someone in a position of authority or power decides that you are a very bad person, the same thing can happen to you. Isn't that free and brave? Doesn't it make your breast swell with national pride? No? Then please refer back to the first sentence.

And, by the way, if the Constitution is to mean anything, it has to apply to every action taken by our government, whether domestically, overseas, visited on a citizen or a non-citizen, or it means nothing. And that's where we are today. This "bin Laden was not a U.S. citizen, was not killed on U.S. soil, and was not entitled to the benefits of the U.S. Constitution" argument, though well-worn and put forth often, is 100% wrong. We don't follow the Constitution and our treaty obligations as the ultimate legal authority for any person, we do it because that's what creates our nation. The president doesn't swear to preserve, protect and defend the United States, he swears to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, because by doing so, that preserves, protects and defends the United States. Failing to follow our own laws destroys the United States. And no sophistic argument can change that.
