Reply #143: Violence is not an answer. However, in the face of violence, non-violence isn't either.

It is never good to initiate violence. But, once initiated, I am more than able -- and perfectly at peace with myself -- to administer violence as needed until the perpetrators of the violence are soundly, thoroughly, utterly defeated. I don't mean 'defeated' as in 'ran off'. I mean 'defeated' more like 'incapable of performing more violence; broken of morale and spirit; catastrophically humbled'.

That has nothing in common with Teabaggers. I'm not advocating violence against anyone. I would not like to see violence everywhere I look.

But if the day comes -- a black day beyond our own control -- when that is all that is left in my community, my city, my state, my country...then I will do my best to protect my 'tribe', and I will do so without prejudice and with sturdiness of conviction, knowing that I must not only survive, but win, to ensure that peace can reign again for the children of the generations to come. If you can't bring yourself to say the same, that's okay -- as a liberal, you're probably still a part of my 'tribe'. Perhaps you can do other things. Just don't turn on me for doing my part to ensure that we aren't in turn defeated by the forces of tyranny, fear, and hatred.

But again...that's all conjecture. It's a big 'if'. It's not what I'm looking forward to, I don't think it's a good idea, and I certainly would be annoyed to head out to do this in the middle of this heat wave we've been having. :silly:
