To use my dad's favorite way of saying, "you just got screwed".

My new pair of glasses from kaiser--nothing fancy--cost as much as my last three pairs of glasses AND two years of disposable lenses AND the eye exams for both glasses and contacts that I bought out of pocket. WT heck?! I am trying not to get angry about it but...uhm... seriously?

When the lady told me the price, I thought, "oooooh...that's double what I expected it to be" but then consoled myself with the thought that my insurance would cover a good chunk of it. So I just stood there waiting to hear the final price. And she looked at me, and I looked at her, and she looked at me and I smiled and she said, "Is that alright?"

I just kept smiling and said, "I was waiting to hear how much it was after you applied my insurance." She looked at me like I was a dork.

"That is with your insurance." I couldn't believe it!

Now, granted, before I was going to a cheap-o chain to get my glasses but they were quality glasses--the first pair lasted three years, the pair I'm wearing are almost three years and the sunglasses I got are five years old! So inexpensive but not cheap. How in the heck can Kaiser charge so much considering I am paying them monthly already!?

I am very tired of getting scammed by insurance! Last year our house got broken into, we were going to claim $1800 on our insurance to cover damage the house and to replace some stolen and smashed items--my agent's secretary tells me: "If you claim this they are probably going to cancel your insurance." WHAT? Ten years on the same policy, never a late payment and not a single claim and they are going to cancel me because I got robbed? It wasn't even through an open window or an unlocked door...the guys actually pried the window frame out of the wall. The bulk of the claim was just to get the window fixed.

Every month now we pay car insurance, house insurance, life insurance and now health. I thought it was going to be awesome to have health/vision insurance but...dang. So far I have had no benefit from it. Just the opposite...
