They have failed to keep us informed for decades now.

One of their best tricks is to report on the most shrill among us. They make the shrill people the story, but the reality is they are promoting the subject of the shrillness. The teabaggers and the birthers are two fine, recent examples. The teabaggers message literally drowned out that of the President Of The United States because the teabaggers got more sensational coverage.

Why was Donald Trump's rebirther message covered? Did any serious media person believe for even one minute that the carnival barker was serious? Really? But Oh How Fun to cover his nonsensical clowning.

Meanwhile, does anyone know what is going on with the US labor force? Is anyone talking about our middle class being so decimated, so pushed down, so abused, that we are now competitive, from a manufacturing perspective, with parts of the Chinese economy? Does the media cover that sort of thing?

Or are they too busy distracting us? When our population is so ill informed that it has no idea it is being screwed or by whom, then the media has succeeded. The distraction they purvey is really more like a pestle, grinding our brains to mush in the mortar of shiny objects.
